We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer specialized in Big Data in Shenzhen to make the team stronger.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, design and implement innovative analytical solutions using Hadoop, NoSQL and other Big Data related technologies
  • Evaluate new features and architecture in Cloud/ on premise/ Hybrid solutions
  • Work with product and engineering teams to understand requirements, evaluate new features and architecture to help drive decisions
  • Build collaborative partnerships with architects and key individuals within other functional groups
  • Perform detailed analysis of business problems and technical environments, and use these to design quality technical solutions
  • Actively participate in code review and test solutions to ensure they meet best practice specifications
  • Build and foster a high-performance engineering culture, mentor team members and provide team with the right tools and motivation
  • Write project documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related majors
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of solid experience with at least 3 major big data technologies and frameworks including but not limited to HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, Hive, HBase, Cassandra and Elastic Search
  • Possess knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Java or Scala
  • Experience in technology and team leading of data-oriented projects, able to play Tech Lead and coordinating role on a project and ensure that solutions meet business requirements and expectations
  • Experience in direct customer communications, able to work closely with customers and other stakeholders
  • Solid skills in infrastructure troubleshooting, support and practical experience in performance tuning and optimization, bottleneck problem analysis
  • Experienced in different business domains
  • Experienced in enterprise software development
  • Experienced and highly self-motivated professional with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving with an ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus, excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Motivated, independent, efficient and able to handle several projects, work under pressure with a solid sense for setting priorities
  • Good experience in developing Big Data, highly available, largely scalable applications and systems
  • Advanced experience in software development with Big Data technologies (e.g. administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging and performance tuning)
  • Engineering experience and practice in Data Management, Data Storage, Data Visualization, Disaster Recovery, Integration, Operation, Security
  • Strong experience building data ingestion pipelines (simulating Extract, Transform, Load workload), Data Warehouse or Database architecture
  • Strong experience with data modeling, hands-on development experience with modern Big Data components
  • Data-oriented personality and possessing compliance awareness, such as PI, GDPR, HIPAA
  • Cloud experience in designing, automation, provisioning, deploying and administering scalable, available and fault tolerant systems
  • Experienced in working with modern Agile developing methodologies and tools, able to work in a fast-paced (startup like) agile development environment
  • In depth understanding of different phases of software development lifecycle and understanding of Agile Scrum processes
  • Ability to provide realistic estimation on required effort and manage to complete tasks in accordance with estimation
  • In depth understanding of different phases of software development lifecycle and understanding of Agile Scrum processes
  • Good understanding and experience of CI/CD principles and best practices, experienced in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, SonarQube)
  • Vast experience with Containers and Resource Management systems: Docker, Kubernetes, Yarn
  • Advanced understanding of distributed computing principles
  • Experienced in designing high quality solutions using OOP, TDD/BDD, Design Patterns and SOLID principles
  • Possess SQL knowledge and general knowledge of data management
  • Experience of Linux, source code control tools (e.g., GIT, SVN) and write bash/shell scrips
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Intermediate (CEFR B1) or higher level of spoken and written English

Nice to have

  • Experience with Big Data solutions developed in large cloud computing infrastructures such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
  • Skillfully grasp and understand the concept of basic data warehouse construction model such as star model and snowflake model, understand the correlation between differences in data levels in the ETL process
  • Microsoft SQL server with SSIS (integration Services), SSRS (Reporting Services)
  • Report/dashboard creation using Cognos and Tableau
  • Experience in design of one or more of the following: Master Data Management, Data Governance, Advanced Analytics / Data Science, Big Data solutions
  • Working experience in global environment where colleagues, stakeholders and onsite client team are based in different locations. Able to cope with differences in culture, and time zones
  • Experienced in mentoring juniors or colleagues with less experience on the project(s)
  • Experienced in conducting training or technical talks in the area of expertise
