We are looking for a Delivery Manager with hands-on software development experience responsible for client management and solution delivery to join our team in Hungary. Remote work is supported.

As a Delivery Manager your main focus is to deliver value for the customer. You will be accountable for the successful delivery for complex programs, projects, or multiple workstreams, client satisfaction, and management of expectations while ensuring that the work is on strategy, on time, and within budget.

You will be working alongside globally renowned and award-winning design, software development and technology teams who are passionate about what they do and how they do it; you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role building strong business and technology relationships, taking a ‘hands on’ approach to define and deliver, embodying and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the delivery of a wide variety of systems and solutions. Take ownership and accountability for the technical leadership of the delivery, ensuring a sound and future-proof architecture approach, and that the implementation meets the technical quality standards
  • Take a proactive part in suggesting technologies, tools, and approaches, advocate the best engineering practices and tools for effective use
  • Manage cross-functional, dispersed project teams across multiple geographies, solution practices and business domains
  • Establish long-term partnerships with the clients, interface frequently with them as their primary point of contact
  • Organize and maintain effective communication both internally within the project team and externally with project stakeholders and customers
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and development support to drive up delivery capability across the department
  • Constantly and carefully review performance to find possible gaps in processes, approaches, or inefficient usage of team capacity
  • Work with customers, vendors, internal client, project team members and stakeholders to define project scope, resource requirements, budget, timeline, deliverables, and milestones
  • Establish goals, schedule, and milestones; plan the delivery roadmap
  • Adjust plans to reflect reality, based on dependencies and constraints, to ensure transparency and trust
  • Monitor and track the project progress against project plan, gather information on team status and hold regular status meetings
  • Analyze metrics and KPIs on teams' and project level
  • Report delivery status to customers and EPAM management (health monitor)
  • Provide input for forecasts, engagement timesheets and invoicing information
  • Mitigate issues and risks proactively, address potential problems before they occur
  • Establish governance across multiple teams and ensure effective quality controls are built into the project
  • Ensure that mandatory project documents and knowledge bases are created and maintained during the project lifecycle
  • Support sales activities, participate in the bid process, provide technical and management expertise to win bids. Coordinate the preparation of customer proposals and statements of work
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; participating in professional societies
  • Actively contribute to the EPAM-wide delivery management community, help mentoring and coaching of other delivery managers

What You Have

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in the field of Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent
  • Active advanced English knowledge (both verbal and written) – level B2+
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical project management experience in software development projects (Project, Delivery, or Team Leader/Manager position), leading projects with a team of 10+ FTEs
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices, such as CI/CD, code quality standards, cloud technologies (professional certification is an advantage), architectural patterns, scaling and robustness
  • Ability to analyze, design and deliver a full stack technical solution to the client
  • Borderless delivery: experience in building and leading geographically dispersed delivery teams and experience in working with customer’s multi-located teams
  • Experience in governing project delivery across the board of all stakeholders
  • Understanding of project management concepts, practices, and processes
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile / Scrum / XP / Lean development methodologies (professional certification is an advantage)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of project stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership abilities and able to engage, inspire, and motivate people
  • Ability to drive a project from concept to delivery, being able to work independently without direct supervision
