DESCRIPTION


Our customer is an American investment management firm. It serves approximately 350 of the largest and most sophisticated global institutional clients including public and corporate pension funds, university endowments, charitable foundations, supranational agencies, sovereign wealth funds, and central banks. By having the deepest possible understanding of the global economy and financial markets and translating that understanding into great portfolios and strategic partnerships with institutional clients, they've built a distinct track record of success. They’ve done this for more than 40 years by having great people operate in a culture of radical truth and radical transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Architecture & design
  • Participate in coding and refactoring
  • Conduct code Review
  • Unit and Integration Tests
  • Fix bugs
  • Maintain documentation

Requirements

  • Being technologist by heart
  • Strong system and solution design skills
  • Being a T-shape specialist (with wide knowledge of technologies)
  • Advanced communication skills – being able to influence people in the room. "Gravitas" - be perceived equal or superior technologist in the room
  • Proven leadership skills (expected to lead the meetings, the team; direction of an architecture, etc.)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in Scala/F#/Haskell, and/or 5+ years in commercial .Net/Java development with readiness to deep dive into world of Scala
  • Excellent coding skills, knowledge of Functional Programming, OOP, design patterns, data structures and security, test first
  • Experience in development for 3-tier architecture
  • Excellent design skills of complex highly loaded distributed systems
  • Experience in AWS: VPC, EC2, ELB, ALB, Route 53, IAM roles and policies, security groups, Aurora DB
  • Hands-on experience in build tools (Pants/Maven)
  • Experience in functional package managers, e.g. Nix
  • Experience in Git + Gerrit, Buildbot/Jenkins, Jira/Redmine
  • Being responsible, self-motivated, hard-working and excellent team player
  • Upper-intermediate English level

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience in Python
  • Knowledge in infrastructure as code software using Terraform
  • Hands-on experience in message broker system Apache Kafka
  • Experience of working with Automating Deployment tools, e.g. Kubernetes
  • Experience of working with Apache ZooKeeper
