Responsibilities
- 24x7 - Distributed Team Engagement Model
- The engineer must align 'On-Call' Support with a 12-hour rotation for one weekend per month
- Support from user/expert Kafka & Connect on the Kubernetes platform
- Respond to infrastructure alerts and do security maintenance and infrastructure optimization
- Lifecycle management, implement patches and perform version upgrades
- Manage CI/CD pipelines
- Support from user/expert perspective Kafka, Kafka Confluent, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana
- Work in an agile development team
- Gather user requirements to provide Kafka & Confluent on the Kubernetes platform as a managed service
- Perform the Development & Security & Operations – DevSecOps activities to provide Kafka & Confluent as a managed service
- Configure/Build features like high availability, performance, backup & restore, security, reliability, and scalability for Kafka & Confluent to support easy operations
- Define & test non-functional aspects, scalability & security aspects
- Configure monitoring, alerting & tracking setup for Kafka & Confluent through Prometheus, Grafana & ELK stack
- Define how Kafka & Confluent as a managed service will be consumed by the end users – Access management, CICD deployments, training material, product documentation, user guides and standard operating procedures
- Operate & maintain the instances of Kafka & Confluent created by the users. Operational activities include service monitoring, security monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, upgrading, change & release management and patching the instances, etc
- Respond to infrastructure alerts and do security maintenance and infrastructure optimization
- Lifecycle management, implement patches and perform version upgrades
- Build wrappers and automation as required to support operational features
Requirements
- Kafka & Confluent practical experience required
- Kafka & Confluent on Kubernetes platform as a managed service
- Knowledge of Kafka & Confluent from end user and administrative perspective
- Google Anthos experience
- Provide guidance from NFRs perspective: security, testing
- Provide Kafka & Confluent as a managed service
- GCP cloud preferred
